810 Main - Eckhart House

George W. Eckhart, Jr residence built in 1892 in the Queen Anne style. Eckhart was a wealthy banker and his house is very ornate. The house is highlighted by an [/Glossary oriel], arched roof over the porch, corbeled [/Glossary cornice] and colored shingles. The building houses the Eckhart House, a major gift shop stop for tourists to historic Wheeling. Even if you don't want to buy anything visit it to see the completely original interior with wonderful staircase, [/Glossary lincrusta] [/Glossary wainscoting], detailed [/Glossary fretwork] and inlaid floors shown in the Library of Congress 1976 photos.
