RiverView Apartments

From Ross Frazier who lived in 653: Now lets move to the Apartment complex. That area was still more houses structured very similar to yours and the adjacent properties. One of the oldest grade schools in Wheeling sat at the Southwest corner of Fifth and Main. It was the Washington Grade School I went grades 1-8 there. It and about 10 other structures were demolished for that project., 6th street was opened to the railroad yard, but not paved, cinder covered for a small drive so the home owners had access to the rear of the houses. Steps for the railroaders were located on the south side of the open area. By the way, that complex really didn't improve the neighborhood. Only destroyed good historical property. As we saw here in Louisville, The area condemned as blighted, really wasn't, but money talks to the powers that be in the government.
