1200 Block looking north
Postcard from the 1940s. The McClure Hotel is on the right (with the awnings), and the Schulmbach Building is the tall yellowish one. The Pugh store is where the Victoria Theater is, but where is the Victoria Theater?
1200 Block looking south
Market - looking south from 12 St, 1904. Note McClure Hotel at left and Professional Building behind banner. (from Ohio County Public Library Flick stream)
Nearly the same view from 2011 with pink-draped McClure Hotel and Professional Building down the street. Sadly, much less traffic.
1200 Market: Mclure Hotel
From Chuck Julian postcard collection, dated 1900.
From Chuck Julian postcard collection, dated 1907. Note the addition of the awnings which were still present in the 1940s postcard above. The modern facelift is not exactly ugly, but it doesn't fit in this historic block. McClure website
