Soldiers and Sailors Monument

Both from Chuck Julian postcard collection; left dated 1907.

Built 1880. Dedicated May 30, 1883 at Ohio County Courthouse. Relocated 1956 first to Leatherwood Cloverleaf (where is that?), and then to Linsly Military Institute. Relocated Oct. 30, 1958 to Wheeling Park. Inscription at base: TO THE DEFENDERS OF THE UNION/1861-1865. Sculptor unknown.
